Love on a Chain

I wish someone would tell me what it is that I have done wrong?  Why do I stay chained up and left alone for so long?  They seemed glad to have me when I came here as a pup.

The master said he would train me as a companion and a friend.  The mistress said she would never fear to be alone again.  But now the master has not the time and the mistress said I shed.  The children never walk me, they always say,  "No, no".

I wish I could please them, I wish they would tell me how.  All I had was  to lose, I wish they would explain.  Why they said they wanted me....... and then left me on a chain.
