In August 2006 Peter and Jenny
returned to Germany to visit their good friends Edgar Rusenberg and Silke Kleine
(of Blumenkamp Kennels), Gerald and Regina Richts and Gerd and Petra Dexel (of
Haus Dexel Kennels), and of course
to visit the Sieger Show at Oberhausen.
At the Sieger Show we were once again
in awe of some stunningly beautiful dogs. We also noticed there was a
strong
emphasis on animals being in correct size, dark coloured and good
pigmentation.
As always, we took much interest in
the Sire's Progeny and Breeders Groups. There were a number of Groups we
were
extremely impressed with, however the group of Dux de Cuatro Flores
stood out along with that of the Sieger (Zamp vom
Thermodos).
The Breeders Groups are always give a
good indication of each Kennel. This year the winning Breeder's Group was
ZWINGER VOM FICHTENSCHLAG. The animals presented in this group were:
Wilko vom Fichtenschlag,
Pina vom Fichtenschlag, Ray vom Fichtenschlag, Tiana
vom Fichtenschlag and Viana vom Fictenschlag.
After the exciting (and exhausting)
three days of the Sieger Show, we returned to Edgar and Silke's home.
Almost as
soon as we returned, Peter and Edgar travelled 5 hours
south to Kulmbach to
Wolfgang and Renate Hassgall's home
to mate Edgar's female to Dux
(de Cuatro Flores).
After the mating, Wolfgang and Renate
invited them to spend some time with them. It was then Peter saw a
stunning
young male inside the home. During the conversation it was
mentioned that the young male that Peter was looking
at was for sale.
This young male was Ray vom Fichtenschlag.
Upon their return, although both men
were tired, both were extremely excited about Ray. A number of days had
passed
and the constant talking about Ray caused another trip down south for the
girls to give their seal of approval.
Upon seeing Ray running around his
home environment, he was happy and full of energy, and like most German dogs,
playing with his favorite toys. It was not long after our arrival, both
Jenny and Silke could understand the constant
talk about this young dog.
Armed with the knowledge of Ray's
established family and breed type, coupled with his most valuable pedigree of
current influential German bloodlines, that Ray would be a valuable asset to the
German Shepherd Dog breed in Australia.
We would like to thank
the following people who all contributed in our purchase of Ray:
Edgar and
Silke for true friends they have become and assistance (and acting as translators/interpreters)
Wolfgang and
Renate for their wonderful friendship and hospitality and most importantly, allowing us to bring Ray
to Australia
Jacek and Sabrina for
their friendship and on hand interpreters and assistance
Thank you to also Gerald and Regina Richts and
Gerd and Petra Dexel for your
knowledge and support in
regards to Ray.
Peter and I are truly
blessed to have such wonderful people we can truly call friends in Germany who
are more than willing
to help and give advise when we ask. |
